Introduction

Yanjing Overseas Chinese University was founded in 1984 by the Beijing Overseas Chinese Association. It is a full-time comprehensive private university approved by the Beijing Educational Committee, supported by the local community and financially funded by overseas Chinese.

The main campus is located in the central area of Fengtai District, one of the southern urban areas of Beijing. YOCU is consist of many colleges such as the college of Economics & Management, the college of Science & Technology, the International Business School, the College of Chinese Language and Culture, the Law College, the Education College, the Foreign Language College and the Medical College. The university provides programs for bachelor and higher degrees, as well as a variety of professional training courses.

After 18 years of fast and steady development, YOCU is well-known as one of the pineering private university with unique education missions and styles both in and outside China.

YOCU is administrated by the president (vice chancellor)elected by the Board of Directors. The Board is composed of well-known people who are dedicated to Chinese education. The Chancellor is Mr. Lu Jiaxi (Vice-President of the Chinese People's Political Consultation Conference). The first chairman of the Board and former President of YOCU were respectively, Mr. Zhang Guoji (Former President of the Overseas Chinese Association of China) and Mrs. Lei Jieqiong (Former Vice-President of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice-President of the National People's Congress). The current Chairman is Mr. Bai Jiefu (Former President of the Beijing Political Consultation Conference, Director of the Beijing Self-Study Examination Committee), the Vice Chairman is Mr. Qian Yongnian (Former Vice Minister in charge of the Foreign Office of State Council). The Vice Chairman and President is Dr. Huasheng (PhD in Economics, National Distinguished Scholar); the Executive President is Mr. Wu Yinshao (National Education Expert); and the Vice President is Ms. Wangjing (EMBA of Duke University in U.S.).

The management missions are practical, innovative and outstanding. YOCU pursuits world excellence in education. YOCU was one of the first universities where the diploma degree examinations were held. The results of the diploma degree examinations have been the most excellent in Beijing for 16 years. The International Business School of YOCU, supported by overseas Chinese and foreign teachers, was the first school that implemented the English language as the working and teaching language. It created an environment of Study Abroad Without Going Abroad, and was rewarded the prize of "National Best Overseas University".

YOCU focus on international education and insists on the principles of "From overseas, for overseas, open to the society". YOCU utilizes international resources and communicates with overseas Chinese to establish a prestigious, outstanding and comprehensive university. It not only develope the students into internationally qualified people with global visions, but also teaches overseas Chinese and Foreigners who are interested in the Chinese culture.
