Guangxi University

 

Guangxi University was established in October 1928. Dr.Ma Junwu, a celebrated scientist and educator, is the first president. Many eminent professors such as Li Siguang, Wang Li, Liu Xianzhou, Chen Yingke, Li Da, Chen Wangdao,Zhang Tiesheng, Zhang Zhirang and Chen Huanyong have been invited to teach in the university. The university is in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Located in charming subtropical scenery, the campus covers an area of 307 hectares with a building area of 820,000 square meters. The university has a library collection of over2.02 million volumes, a store of equipment worth 191 million Yuan, 2 national key disciplines, 2 key laboratories of the ministerial level, 2 key experimental centers of the provincial level, 15 provincial key disciplines, 1 demonstration base for teaching and research of modern agriculture technique, 46 research institutes or centers and 67 university an college laboratories. Now it has 20 colleges. It is now playing a very important role in the regional economy and social development.

The university has a staff of 3,524, of whom 1,505 are full-time teachers, 33 are supervisors of doctoral students, 206 are professors and 752 associate professors. More than 160 prominent scholars and scientists from home and abroad have been invited as honorary professors or visiting scholars. Among them the most famous are Dr.Yang Zhenning, a Nobel Prize winner, and Pan Jiazheng, academician and vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Guangxi University offers 77 undergraduate programs, 77 graduate programs (including M.B.A. program and M.E program) and 6 doctoral programs. The present enrollment of 48,725 students(23,431 full-time and 25,294 in continuing education program). The university has exploited the advantage of its multidisciplinarity and optimized its programs for a better quality of education. The well-equipped research institutes and a prestigious research staff do basic research as well as applied research. They have received grants for hundreds of national, ministerial or provincial projects. It has corporations and academic exchanges with 75 universities or research institutes in 27 countries and regions. The long-term cooperation in research closely links it with many universities, like Western Michigan University in the U.S.A., Gifu University and Mie University in Japan, the John Innes Institute and the Bioengineering Corporation of Cambridge University in Britain and the Avmass Embryo Co.Ltd,of Dublin University in Ireland, New South Wales University and Sydney University in Australia, and many universities in Vietnam and Thailand. So far the university has sent 380 teachers and researchers abroad for academic study and joint research projects or to work as visiting researchers. Over 400 international experts and scholars have taught, given lectures, or cooperated on research projects in the university. The university is one of the earliest 66 universities authorized to enroll overseas students. Since 1962, many international students from 40 countries in Europe, America, Africa, and Asia have pursued their study in the university.

The university has made great efforts to widen its international contacts in the fields of arts of letters, science and technology. It has established bilateral exchange and cooperation ties with 80 universities and academic institutions in 30 countries and regions. More than 400 students from 44 countries have studied for bachelor's degree or master's degree, or for knowledge of Chinese language and culture in the university.




 

Qualifications

We are seeking instructors for our international team who:
- have native fluency in English
- are dynamic and professional
- are looking to work for a minimum of one year, the job will start from August of each year to July of next year
- possess cultural sensitivity, as well as good communication and organizational skills
- have the strong desire to work on a team and learn new skills
- are with good health and under 65 years old

Requirements
To be eligible for working-visa sponsorship, applicants are required to hold a passport from one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the US. An at least 4-year degree from a university in one of these countries is necessary.

Workload: 18-20 periods (40mins per period) plus English corner activity and 2 office hours per week

Remuneration package

• A monthly salary is 4500-8000(RMB) commensurate with degree, teaching certificate and teaching experiences.
• Flight Reimbursement:
8000-12000 (RMB) per year for those residing outside China commensurate with place of residence.
• Housing. A furnished apartment on campus with a bathroom, a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and the equipments such as a refrigerator, a telephone set, a television, a computer, a washing machine, and other necessary daily appliances;

• Medical benefits. Instructors can receivemedical care in accordance with medical system in China.
• Vacation pay.

• Instructors will have winter vacation as teachers of Guangxi University and other public holidays of China with pay.
• Instructors are entitled to his/her country’s holidays as follows: Christmas for two days, National Day for one day.

• Personal income tax – the tax levy point is 4001 and at a very moderate rate at 5% from 4001 to 4500, =(S*10 %−25) from 4501 to 6000, =(S*15 %−125) from 6001 to 10000. (details to be specified by further communication)
