The College abides by the school motto of Beihang University, namely “Combination of Moral and Talent, Cognition and Practice”. SeasideCampusPalace of Studying Beihai College of Beihang University, playing an important role in the construction of a “Cultural Guangxi”, is placed on the agenda of major infrastructures of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Leaders of Guangxi Region,Beihai City and Beihang University, including Cao Bochun(Secretary of Guangxi Party Committee), Wen Kahua(Member of the Standing Committee of Guangxi Party Committee and Secretary of Beihai Municipal Party Committee), Wu Heng(Vice Governor of Guangxi Region), Tang Chengliang(Mayor of Beihai), Professor Du Yubo(Secretary of Party Committee, Beihang University), Professor Xu Huibin(Vice-President of Beihang University) and Professor Zheng Zhiming(Vice-President of Beihang University), attended the College’s opening ceremony on October 15, 2005. Covering an area of 1,200 mu, the College is located in Beihai, one of the Top Ten Livable Cities in China. She lies next to the Silver Beach which holds the honor of being “No.1 Beach Under Heaven”, overlooking a vast expanse of deep blue sea under the clear sky, and nestling in colorful flowers and evergreen coconut trees all the year round. The College is a well-equipped institute with 4 sophisticated teaching buildings, 14 brand-new apartment buildings for students, 5 apartment buildings for teachers, a standard playground, 15 basketball/volleyball arenas and one library. Besides, there is a comprehensive building with such multi-functions as canteen, café, Agricultural Bank of China, supermarket, post office, barber-shop and clinic. It has transport facilities with exclusive shuttle service directed towards the city centre. Charming City Noted Scholars Beihai, a prefecture in Han Dynasty, is well-known as the home to South Pearls and the departure port of China’s ancient Silk Route on Sea. Eight western countries, such as Britain, Germany, France and the U.S., have set up their consulates herein since 1876, hence making Beihai one of the earliest and most prosperous ports in South China. That Weizhou Island Catholic Church built in 1879, the site of British Consulate built in 1885, and the local old Zhongshan Road and Zhuhai Road built in 1927 all show the long-gone prosperity of Beihai and its characteristic blending of Chinese and Western cultures.

Beihai College of Beihang University ( Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics) is an institute of higher education at bachelor’s degree approved by the Ministry of Education. With full support from Guangxi municipality government and Beihai municipal government, the College is founded and managed in the pattern of independent colleges. She welcomed the entrance of her first passel of students in the fall of 2005(Please see http://www.bhbh.cn for more details). 
As a famous university, Beihang University attaches great importance to the construction and development of BeihaiCollege. Famous scholars, experienced teachers and administrators from Beihang University constitute the backbone of the first class faculty of the College. Sun Wei, dean of School of Software, BeihangUniversity and lifelong professor, FloridaStateUniversity, the U.S.A, assumes the office of president of the College. Shen Songhua, former assistant to the president of BeihangUniversity and ex-dean of Academic Affairs thereof, assumes dean of Academic Affairs. Guo Haoru, professor of Foreign Language Department, Beihang University and deputy chief editor of College English，who has been rewarded many times for college English teaching in Beijing, assumes director of Basic Courses Division. Likewise, the College’s students working team is composed of some elite of student cadres from BeihangUniversity. 
Under Beihai College of Beihang University there are School of Software and Information Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Economics and Management, School of Modern Physical Education, International Business School, Traveling School, School of Ecology and Programme, and ASEAN International School, etc., covering an academic field of more than 10 majors. The College recruits freshmen from twelve provinces/regions in 2006, namely Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangdong, Sichuan, Shanxi, Fujian, Liaoning, Shandong, Hunan, Henan, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Hainan. Paying great attention to foundation courses at the core, the college conducts all teaching programs with her own characteristics and intensifies her training in practical uses of English along with the ability of do-it-yourself, which aims to make her students highly competitive in employment and internationally broad-minded. 
Facing the sea on three sides, Beihai boasts some famous places of interest, such as the Silver Beach Holiday Resort (namely one of the Top Five of China’s Nice Retreats) and WeizhouIsland(namely one of the Top Ten of China’s NiceIslands). It has a subtropical marine monsoon climate with a warm and humid condition featuring mild winter and moderate summer. The content of negative oxygen ion per cubic centimeter here in Beihai is at least 5-10 times higher than that in the inland cities. Beihai’s air quality has been rating No.1 among all China’s cities for years. The city was rewarded the “Prize of Ecological Models for National Agreeable Cities” and honored with the title of “Annual Charming Cities of Chinese Characteristics” in 2005. Thanks to its long history and splendid culture nourished in bright sunshine, clean and blue seawater, fine and silvery beach, pure and fresh air, the city of Beihai has been attracting more and more famous scholars, diligent students, travelers and businessmen, and is therefore destined to bring about such a new and vigorous college as Beihai College of Beihang University. Ni Guangnan (a specially engaged professor at Beihai College of Beihang University and academician with Chinese Academy of Engineering) and Ph.D Sugata Mitra (the chief scientist with NIIT, which is short for Nust Institute of Information Technology) have mentioned here in their series of academic lectures that many famous universities in America and Europe are founded in such nice places as Beihai; so to speak, Beihai College of BUAA is heading straight for a bright future.
