Application Procedure for Foreign Teachers |

I.Email or fax materials required for application as below: 1.APPLICATION FORM FOR TEACHING AT HAINANUNIVERSITY. 2.Resume; 3.Bachelor Degree or above and other certificate on teaching. 4.Passport information. To those foreign teachers are working in China now, please also provide: 5.Residence permit with the page of date of valid; 6.Foreign expert certificate; 7.Recommendation letter (issued by the department which are dealing with the affairs of foreign teachers,. This letter should be printed by formal letter paper and signed by the responsible person of the department with the stamp and contact way. |

II. Phone interview or other possible way to communicate and then discuss the detail contract information once both sides are satisfied. |

III. Applicant provide all the necessary documents as below to the University for the use of applying for the Z-visa application and working permit: 1.Foreign Experts Working Permit Application Record 2.Physical exam record(with the designated the form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner and should be authenticated by local Chinese Embassy or consulate). 3.10 pieces of 2 inch size pictures. |

IV. Sign the Contract. |

V. The University applies for the Z-visa application and working permit and mail to the applicants. |

VI. Applicants apply for the Z visa to China in local Chinese Embassy or consulate and come to Hainan as the time suggested by the University. |

VII. Applicants retest the physical exam in Hainan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau with all the related documents taken from the hospital. |

VIII. Sign the formal contract. And the University would apply for the Foreign Expert Certificate and Residence Permit within one month of the entry to China. |

PROSPECTUS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
AT HAINANUNIVERSITY
A SURVEY
In the flourishing, developing, bustling, and beautiful tropical seaside city of Haikou, a school of higher education, young and vigorous, is quickly developing and expanding day by day as society forges ahead towards the future with interest. This is HainanUniversity, the only comprehensive university in HainanProvince. It covers an area of 500 acres and borders the sea in the north in a setting that is characterized by picturesque scenery and an amiable climate.
HainanUniversity has a relatively large scope and strength with balanced multi-level system of graduate, undergraduate, higher vocational education, and adult education. The university has 13 colleges: Science and Engineering, Information Science and Technology, Life Science and Agriculture, Oceanography, Law, Economics and Management, Humanities and Communications, Foreign Languages, Arts, Tourism, Public Administration, Higher Vocational Education, and Adult Education. In addition, there are two departments for Social Sciences and Physical Education.
HainanUniversity currently offers 13 graduate programs, 30 undergraduate programs and 10 higher vocational education programs. Today, the school has a modern library and a well-equipped information center with Internet access. There are many kinds of excellent exercise facilities, such as gymnasium, tennis court, volleyball court, basketball ground and swimming pool all located on campus.
The school has a faculty numbering over 1000 and on-campus student number over 16,500. Since its establishment, the university has provided social relationships with about 30,000 graduates of different specialties.
HainanUniversity attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation. REGULATIONS FOR ADMISSION
I. Admission Qualifications
1. Chinese Language Student:
Student who is well behaved and in good health may apply for admission to the corresponding classes according to his/her actual Chinese level.
2. Undergraduate:
The applicant, who is a high school graduate and capable of studying his/her specialized courses in Chinese, is well behaved and in good health, can apply for admission of undergraduate to HainanUniversity. Acceptance is decided by selection after a screening process. If s/he is not capable of studying his/her specialized courses in Chinese, s/he is first expected to study Chinese for one year, and then continue his/her undergraduate studies after passing the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK Band 6).
3. General Advanced Student / Graduate:
The applicant should have already completed undergraduate studies. S/he should be in good health and well behaved. If s/he is not capable of studying his/her specialized courses in Chinese, s/he is first expected to study Chinese for one year, and then continue his/her original studies after passing the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK Band 6).
4. Senior Advanced Student:
The applicant, who is required to hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese Master’s degree, can pursue his/her advanced studies on a certain subject under the direction of Chinese supervisors after admission to HainanUniversity. S/he should be in good health and well behaved. If s/he is not capable of studying his/her specialized courses in Chinese, s/he is first expected to study Chinese for one year, and then continue his/her original studies after passing the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK Band 6).
II. School-open Date, Application Procedures, Formalities for Visa to China and Registration
1. Semester Schedule
Autumn Semester: 1 September to mid-January of next year;
Winter Vacation: late January to late February;
Spring Semester: 1 March to 15 July;
Summer Vacation: mid-July to late August.
2. Application Procedures: Applicants who would like to study at HainanUniversity may contact the Foreign Affairs Office of the university by mail or in person. The applicant should submit the following documents:
(1) Application Form for Admission to HainanUniversity
(2) Duplicated copies of highest certificate of schooling and academic record. A letter of recommendation from an expert is needed if the applicant applies for Graduate and Senior Advanced Students.
(3) Copy of Passport
(4) Application fee of 30 US dollars (non-refundable; payable in cash)
All the documents and fee must be sent by registered mail to: Foreign Affairs Office, HainanUniversity, Haikou, Hainan, P. R. China 570228
Applications will not be processed without the payment.
3. Application deadline
31 December for Spring Semester;
31 July for Autumn Semester;
Any time for Short-term Program (summer program).
4. Formalities for Visa to China: The successful applicant will receive the Letter of Admission and a “Visa Application for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China” (JW 202 Form) and students who enroll in program of over 6 months must take a physical examination no more than 4 months in advance in the hospital designated by the Chinese Embassy. With the Letter of Admission, Form JW 202 and Physical Examination Record, the student can go to the nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate for visa application.
5. Registration:
(1) Students should arrive on time according to the registration time of “Letter of Admission”.
(2) At the time of registration, students are requested to show their Letter of Admission, Form JW202, Physical Examination Record, Passport, and 8 photos (2 x 1 inch, half-length, full-faced and bare-headed) as well as pay tuition, registration, teaching materials and lodging fees for one year.

III. Standard Fees
1. Tuition Fee (per person)
Language student: Long-term US$ 1600/year, US$ 800/term
Short-term US$ 75 /week
Undergraduate: US$ 1800/year
Graduate/General Advanced Student: US$ 2000/year
Senior Advanced Student: US$ 2200/year
Note: HainanUniversity specially provides the following preferential tuition fee for the offspring of overseas Chinese.
A. Undergraduate or Graduate student: same tuition fee as Chinese student
B. Language student: 50% of the standard tuition fee set by Chinese government
2. Application Fee: US$ 30
3. Registration Fee: US$ 50
4. Teaching Material Fee: US$ 50/year
5. Accommodation Fee:
ForeignStudentsBuilding: US$ 3/day
(Standard single room: air-conditioned, with telephone, hot water and private bathroom).
6. Water & Electricity Fees:
Charges for water and electricity of the room have to be taken care of by the students themselves.
7. Boarding Expenses:
There is a Foreign Students Cafeteria next to the ForeignStudentsBuilding. The food costs about US$2.5 per person per day. The expenses have to be paid by the students themselves.
Note: All fees should be paid in USD or RMB cash when register. No refunds are available for withdrawal.
IV. Travel
Hainan is the most famous tropical landscape tourist spot in China. Located at the southern most tip of China, Hainan province has a tropical maritime climate with an annual average temperature of 22-26°C. Sunlight, surf, beach, coconut palms, famous historical sites, the culture and customs of the minorities—all join to create a picturesque tropical island. Hainan is famed as “East Hawaii”. Hainan is also the region where Li and Miao nationalities live in compact communities. HainanUniversity can arrange round-the-island tour for foreign students to enjoy the beautiful, tropical, coastal landscape and learn some folk customs. Students are required to pay the cost for the tour.
V. Note
During their stay in China, foreign students should observe the laws of the People’s Republic of China, university regulations, and respect the habits and customs of the Chinese people.
