Introduction

 

As a key school directly under the administration of Educational Department of Henan Pro- vince, Henan Experimental Middle School is consistently one of the highest ranked middle schools in Henan Province. The school is well located in northern part of Zhengzhou city in Henan Province, just about 20 minutes from downtown Zhengzhou. Zhengzhou is the capital city of Henan Province with excellent shopping and recreational facilities and very good tran- sportation links to the rest of Henan province and the whole country. Since 1957, Henan Ex- perimental Middle school has established itself as one of China’s leading middle schools. It’s a nationally and internationally renowned school which attracts students and staff from Henan Province mainly. At present, it occupies an area of nearly 15 hectares and owns good basic facilities and excellent operating conditions. The school has a total enrollment of nearly 8,000 students and more than 700 experienced teaching staff. Actually, it’s the only school enrolling students from the whole province in Henan. Admission to the school depends on provincial high school entrance examination results. Our students are promising and qualified personnel partly because their academic achieve- ments must meet the basic requirement of key school entrance examination before entering the school. The students boarding in school live a collective life with plenty time to study to lay a good academic foundation. Throughout its history, the school has provided a good education with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning which is responsive to regional, national and international needs. We implement the state’s educational policy in an all-round way to ensure that students develop morally, intellectually and physically. Nurtured in the Yellow River civilization, Henan Experimental Middle School has made great efforts to form the tradition of creating characteristics of a distinguished school and educating high-qualified talents. We have a long tradition of providing high quality junior and senior high school courses and have superb facilities, along with a team of well-qualified and experienced academic and support staff who care about all students. Our courses are modern, challenging and relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Since China’s reform and opening to the outside world, Academic exchanges have been flowering throughout the school system, which enhance and challenge the academic atmosphere. The school has been strengthening international academic exchanges and cultural cooperation with foreign countries, and has successfully established friendly and cooperative relations with numerous institutes of higher learning in Canada, Australia, Japan and other European countries. The International Department is has been founded in 2003. We are running three programs: Sino-Japanese, Sino-Canadian and Sino-Australian. We have 7 foreign teachers, 22 Chinese teachers and more than 200 students at this moment. The International Department located on-campus, share the school teaching building, school facilities but individual management.

Introduction To Zhengzhou City

Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, is situated on the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow river. Being embraced by the river in the north and sheltered by Mt. Songshan in the west, it possesses a genial climate and is easily accessible. Zhengzh- ou boasts a history going back to the slave society in the middle of Shang Dynasty When the town took shape here. Among the rich relics left over are well-known ruins of the ancient Shang city, remains of Dahe Village. Innumerable art treasures such as celadon wine vessel of Shang and ancient painted pottery, are well preserved in the provincial museum, frequented by streams of sightseers. All these sketch out the record of past events which took place roun- d the cradle of the Chinese nation, brilliant with all its ancient culture. In modern times, Zhengzhou has been a heroic city a revolutionary tradition. In 1923, it witne- ssed the February 7th Strike of railmen of Beijing-Hanko Line, reverberating thro- ugh the whole world. The twin February 7th Memorial Towers rising aloft in t- he center of the city are symbolic of its fighting spirit. Today, Zhengzhou has develop- ed into a new industrial city. The tourist attraction at Mangshan to the north of urb- an Zhengzhou affords a magnificent view of the Yellow River flowing by. Zhengzh- ou has been playing an important connecting role in the country’s economic devel- opment patterns due to its strategic location. Shaolin Temple of Henan Province , the most famous Buddhist temple in China , is located on Shaoshi Mountain where it takes 1 hour from Zhengzhou city by driv- ing. Shaolin Temple and Shaolin Gongfu (Martial arts) have long taken on a legendry color and are famous both in and outside China.
