Changzhou Institute of Technology (herein referred to as CIT), a regular 4-year institution of higher learning, is located in Changzhou, a historically well-known, rich and beautiful city on the southern bank of the Yangtse River with a developed economy, prosperous education system & culture and convenient transportation. Founded in 1978, CIT has now become a star university in China. It offers both 3 & 4-year academic & non-academic programmes in the fields of engineering, liberal arts, sciences, economics, management, art, education and so on, with the characteristics of a well-proportioned scale, a solid foundation, good economic and social efficiencies.

There are 15 schools and one teaching section in CIT. They are School of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, School of Electronic Information & Electric Engineering, School of Computer & Information Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Business Administration, School of Quality Control Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, School of Art & Design, School of Law & Political Science, School of Science, School of Education, Physical Education Section, Yanling School, School of Applied Technology and School of Adult (Continuing) Education. The number of 3 & 4-year full-time students on the campus amounts to more than 11,000, that of adult education reaches 5,000, and the number of faculty members totals more than 1000.

CIT constantly and conscientiously adapts itself to the needs of the local economic & social development. In light of the new requirements & new characteristics seen in the restructuring of the economy, industry & technology in the city as well as in the province, CIT takes the initiative to deepen its educational reform, strengthen the construction of its disciplines & programmes, and innovate the educational system. It is committed to blazing a new trail for the training of advanced practice-oriented personnel with production, learning and research well integrated into building up the core competitiveness for students of different specialties, so as to establish the training system & training models for practice-oriented personnel with CIT characteristics. The key disciplines and programs offered by the School of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, School of Electronic Information & Electric Engineering, School of Computer & Information Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Quality Control Engineering etc. have become the main intellectual support for the leading industries of advanced manufacturing, information engineering & architecture etc. in the city as well as in the province, thus fully demonstrating CIT’s educational features marked by comprehensiveness, practicality and community-orientation.

CIT actively involves itself in international education exchange and cooperation. It is a partner for CCCLP, Sino-Canadian College Partnership Program and other international education cooperation programs. Long term friendly cooperation has been established between CIT and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Seneca College of Applied Arts﹠Technology and Holland College of Canada. There is also a friendly collegiate link between CIT and East London University of Britain, Southwestern Oregon Community College and Northwestern Polytechnic University of U.S.A, and JYDSK Paedagog Seminarium of Denmark. Owing to joint efforts, a number of cooperative programs such as Computer Application Technology have been carried out. Every year CIT invites a number of foreign experts to teach or lecture on the campus. And every year CIT receives a certain number of international students and interns for language-learning or internship programs at its Center of Teaching Chinese to Foreigners.
Every year Changzhou institute of Technology invites 8-10 foreign experts, from U.S.A, Britain, Canada, Australia, Japan etc., teaching oral English, oral Japanese and other related courses.
