Department of Foreign Languages
The Foreign Language
Department, with high-quality teaching staff and facilities, has
set up a modern management mechanism. The department has three majors:
Business English? Tourism English and Business Japanese, which are
all market-oriented. We offer diverse educational paths, encouraging
students to pass national curricular examinations. We also prepare
students for vocational certificates by offering a wide range of
training courses for students to choose from, according to their
tastes and interests.
There are three offices under the Department: General English, Major
English I and Major English II. The department now has more than
40 high-quality teachers, some have lived in foreign countries,
and five are Cambridge Business English Examiners. The department
currently employs 5 foreign teachers. It is equipped with modern
facilities including: five multi-media language labs? a wireless
FM set which broadcasts English programs daily, and a variety of
audio-visual materials.
Our mission is to cultivate well-rounded students by organizing
diverse extracurricular activities, such as Foreign Language Corners,
Speech Contests?Singing Competitions?and community service projects.,
Academic lectures and reports, given by experts and scholars, are
also regularly organized to broaden students’ horizons
Up to now, a great number of talented students from this department
have graduated, and are now engaged in business trade, management,
translation, public relations, etc, and are all favored by most
enterprises and units.
Business English
Education Objectives:
To cultivate well-rounded students, with solid knowledge
and skills of English, business, trade and management, who are able
to apply these skills and knowledge to business, trade, management
and other work concerning foreign affairs.
Education Duration:
3 years for graduates of senior middle school, five years
for graduates of junior middle school.
Main courses:
Comprehensive English, Listening, Oral English, Audio-visual
English, Extensive Reading of Business English, Business English
Writing, Translation, Cambridge Business English (preliminary and
vantage), Foreign Trade, Business Negotiation (English), Oral Business
English, Import-export Business, Cross-cultural Etiquette, Japanese,
Applied Computer Science, etc.
Professional Skills:
The students are required to gain the basic knowledge and
skills of business and trade, obtain communicative skills in English
—listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, and
master certain knowledge in public relations and social etiquette.
Career Expectations:
The graduates should be able to work in the fields of business,
trade, management, foreign affairs, etc.
Tourism English
Education Objective: 
To cultivate well-rounded students, with solid knowledge
and skills of English, tourism and management. Graduates should
be able to work in foreign affairs, as management in travel agencies
and hotels, as tour guides, etc.
Education Duration:
3 years for senior high school graduates, 5 years for junior
high school graduates.

English, British and American Cultures, Tourism English, Hotel English,
Travel Survey, Travel Laws, Travel Agency Management, Jiangsu Travel

Students are required to gain basic knowledge and skills
in tourism and hotel management, obtain communicative skills in
English —listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation,
and master certain knowledge in public relations and social etiquette.
Career Expectation:
The graduates should be able to work as tour guides, management
in hotels or travel agencies, clerks in foreign affairs offices,
teachers in tourism schools, etc, and be capable of building good
public relations in their positions.
Business Japanese
Education Objectives:
To cultivate well-rounded students, with solid knowledge
and skills in Japanese, business, trade and management, international
business, negotiation, and import & export business, who can
apply their skills and knowledge to business, trade, management
and other work concerning foreign affairs.
Education Duration:
3 years for senior high school graduates, 5 years for junior
high school graduates.
Main courses:
Standard Japanese, Business Japanese, Japanese Listening
and Speaking, Practical Writing, Business Negotiation, Selected
Reading of Japanese Newspapers and Magazines, Extensive Reading
of Business Japanese, Import and Export Business, English, Applied
Computer Science, etc.
Professional Skills:
The students are required to master the basic knowledge
and skills of business, trade and management, obtain the communicative
skills in Japanese —listening, speaking, reading, writing
and translation, master certain knowledge in public relations, social
etiquette, and be able to work in foreign enterprises, import-export
companies, foreign affairs offices, etc.
Career Expectations:
The graduates should be able to work in the fields of business,
trade, translation, management, foreign affairs, etc.
