Located in the south of Changzhou, Qianhuang Senior Middle School was set up in 1939 and was appointed as one of the provincial key schools in 1957. The school enjoys such honours as an advanced group, a civilized unit, a model school of the province and so on. In 1999, it successfully became a national model school with an excellent evaluation. Now the school has a staff of 220, among whom five are special classification teachers as well as many noted and experienced, and it is honoured as a group of excellent teachers of Jiangsu. The school has always stuck to the idea of training all round and qualified young people for the 21st century and carrying out education reforms.

The students in our school enjoy four exciting festivals every year, that is, the Science Week in April, the English Week in May, the Sports Week in November and the Art Week in December. All these interesting and instructive activities offer the students a good chance of showing their cleverness and intelligence and will ensure them great success in the future. That's why we have made great success in running the school and formed fine school spirit. The school boasts to have the first class biology relic room at home, because there are more than 2500 animal species and the school is crowned as Jiangsu environmental education base. Besides it is also one of the three national model schools for media teaching in the province. All the teachers pay much attention to scientific research besides their daily teaching, and about 220 of their essays have won different prizes or have been published. Since we began to make efforts together in foreign languages teaching with Nanjing University, outstanding results have been achieved, especially in the last three years of English competitions, in which we have captured most of the prizes, leaving other schools far behind. About 96 students of the school have won the first prizes in different national competitions and five even successfully reached the national finals in maths and chemistry.

Therefore, the school has been appointed as one of the three Olympic Competition training bases in the province. Also, the school has successively made remarkable achievements in the National Entrance Examinations and had the largest number of students in the province to enter famous universities. With a total investment of 120 million yuan, the beautiful urban section attached to our school covers an area of about 38 acres and the first stage of construction has been completed. We started enrollment in June, 2002 and now more than 1500 students of Senior Grade One are studying there. We will try our best to continue the fine traditions and work for a better future of the school.
