Founded in 1919, Nantong First Middle School of Jiangsu Province is one of the provincial key middle schools. She was ranked as a state demonstration ordinary high school in 1997 and had kept the honor as a provincial civilized unit for 16 years ever since 1985. For three times in succession, she has been chosen as a model school of the provincial level. The year of 1999 saw her among the national advanced units in the construction of moral civilization, and she has also been honored as the national advanced unit in the efforts for the popularization of physical education, the national advanced school in physical education and health care, and one of the first experimental schools for modern educational technology.
