Introduction
 


Wuxi Big Bridge Experimental High School was the first private school approved by the Wuxi Municipal People Government. It was founded in 1993 by Lady Gu Yun-yu (former Party secretary of No. 1 High School) and Mr. Ding Wei-dao (former principal of No. 1 High School). Principal of Big Bridge Experimental High School takes charge of the whole school affairs and is responsible to the school board of directors. There are 2,197students in 44 classes. There are 161 teachers among which 40 are senior teachers and teachers of a special classification. The main characteristic of our school is igh starting-point; High efficiency; High quality Most of the junior grade students are admitted to provincial key senior high schools every year. By the year of 2002, 81 Junior graduates had been accepted by the three best high schools in Singapore, The Chinese High School, Nanyang Girls High School and CHIJ St.

Nicholas Girls'School, and they offered scholarships to all of them . In the national mathematics, English, physics, chemistry and computer technology competitions, the Big Bridge winners totaled 735 (p/t); In the provincial Junior students competitions, Big Bridge winners came out top of those in all the schools throughout Jiangsu Province. The students of Big Bridge have won three successive Olympic competitions in computer technology. In the past four years, the results of our senior grade graduates in the National College Entrance Examination have ranked third in our city. In October 2000, Big Bridge began its foreign language training courses for high school students and adults as well. During the past nine years, Big Bridge Experimental High School has established a network of a lot of famous high schools in Singapore, Japan, Australia and the USA on friendly terms, both sides of which have carried out student-or teacher exchange programs, which have helped broaden each other horizons and draw on each other experience. Besides, they have played an important role in improving the teachers vocational efficiency and the school educational reform. The new teaching building in the city center was completed in August, 2002. It is a first-rate multi-purpose modern teaching building, which has a total floor space of 28,500 m2 . It cost us about RMB100,000,000 yuan . The new building certainly provides better conditions for the further development of Big Bridge. At present, Big Bridge Experimental High School is striving for the realization of the scientific school management and the modernization of the contingent of teachers and the means of teaching.
