Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University is a comprehensive university, a national key building base of vocational education teachers’ training and a regional model of vocational education teachers’ university greatly funded by the State Ministry of Finance. Besides, the university is characterized by a national training centre of calisthenics for teen-agers, a provincial key research base of humanities, a provincial key lab of organic functional molecule, and a provincial key lab of optic-electronics and communication. The provincial key lab of material surface engineering and the provincial key lab of food safety engineering are under construction. The university was established in 1977. The State Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government officially approved that Nanchang University of Science & Technology would be established on the basis of Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University in 2004.

The university covers an area of 200 hectares. Shade trees, and the quiet and tasteful environment of the campus, make the university one of the garden institute in Jiangxi Province. Teaching equipments are advanced. All kinds of facilities are completed. It realized a computer net-work management in the work of administration.

There are 15 schools (departments, teaching units) and over 60 four-year and there-year majors. The majors cover 7 disciplines, including science, engineering, literature, history, law, management and education. 18 of the majors are provincial key disciplines and famous-brand majors, such as: Fine Arts, Signal and Information Processing, Applied Chemistry, Tourism Management, Art and Design, Mathematics, Music, Accounting, English, Chinese Linguistics and Literature, Physical Education, Electronic Information Engineering, and Photography Engineering.

Recently, with the development of our country’s reform and opening, we develop the exchange of international education, international culture and cooperation. Good cooperative relations have already been established with colleges and universities and their vocational organization in the United States, Britain, Canada, Germany and other countries. We are also running 4 cooperative projects with the colleges of Britain and Canada. We now have sent overseas students with each other, visiting scholars and other programs. We open a long term or short term advanced Chinese language training. Our training programs include regular advanced studies, higher certificate advanced studies and degree advanced studies.
