DMU is located in southeastern Dalian, which is a famous coastal city in northeastern China with a population of six million. The University covers an area of one million square meters with almost half a million square meters occupied by buildings. The University owns the buildings for maritime sciences that contain fully functional equipment and facilities. There are additional buildings for maritime training and research, survival training, swimming pool, planetarium and libraries. DMU has a training dock and over 40 laboratories for teaching, training and research that also include a full mission ship-handling simulator and an engine room simulator. DMU also owns and operates an ocean-going training vessel of over 10,000 deadweight tonnage.
Presently DMU has a post-doctoral program (R&D base), 9 doctoral programs, 24 master programs, and 33 undergraduate programs. Both the Traffic Information Engineering and Control and the Marine Engineering are national key disciplines. The University is authorized to confer MBA, MPA, J.M. The current student population has risen to approximately 15,000. DMU has a highly qualified faculty team, including 160 professors, 370 associate professors, 100 doctoral supervisors, and also has an academic agreement with 3 academicians of the National Academy of Engineering, 24 chair professors, and 110 visiting professors.
Dalian is summer resort city with gorgeous scenery and pleasant weather. It attracts millions of domestic and international tourists each year and is rated as the first model city in the list of “the Best 500 Cities of Environmental Protection in the World” named by the UN Environmental Protection Department in the year of 2000. |

Admission Requirements of Overseas Students Qualifications for Admission:
The applicants must hold a high school diploma, be in good health and aged under 25, with a Chinese proficiency level basically sufficient to follow university courses given in Chinese. On passing the exams set by the university in accordance with the program chosen, the applicants can be admitted to do a bachelor’s degree program at the university. If the applicants are not proficient enough in Chinese to follow the program, a one year’s remedial course of Chinese can be arranged.
For admission to the master’s degree program, the applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, be in good health and aged under 35. Admission is based on the recommendation of two professors (full or associate) and the result of the examination set by the university. Courses are generally given in Chinese. (The requirements set for Chinese proficiency are the same as those set for bachelor’s degree applicants.)
For admission to the doctor’s degree program, the applicants must hold a master’s degree, be in good health and aged under 40. Admission is based on the recommendation of two professors (full or associate) or experts of equivalent status and result of the examination set by the university. Application Procedure and Period
Tuition For Degree Students (One Academic Year)
Note: Tuition must be paid in full the one week after classes begin. If the student leaves or transfers from DMU without no special causes, tuition will not be refunded. This programme is organized by WorldMaritimeUniversity and DalianMaritimeUniversity. The goal of this programme is to meet the need for high-level professionals capable of handling increasingly complex and important issues of maritime safety and marine environment protection in the context of ever-increasing production. To understand the issue, to take on the challenges and to find effective solutions to the problems, inter-disciplinary and integrated knowledge and expertise is needed. The entire programme is delivered in English, using English-language teaching material. The formal programme is delivered over 15 months in three sections, which are pre-requisite study, specialization study (about 10 months) and project research paper (about 5 months). About Medical Assurance Applicants are required to have medical insurance for hospitalization and coverage for accidents. Those who have their own coverage are required to obtain documentation of proof (in English or Chinese) from the insurance company, to be submitted to the university upon registration. Those who are not covered will be required to buy insurance at registration.
