Introduction

Xidian University is a key national university under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. It dedicates primarily to the electronics and information education and research, with an integration of a wide range of academic subjects covering engineering, physics, arts and social sciences. It is one of the elite class of institutions of higher learning selected nationally as part of China's state educational enhancement project labeled "211". Xidian University is one of the universities that has been approved by the government to enroll foreign students to study academic courses, and it has been authorized to confer Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. degrees. It has also established a Chinese Training Center for Chinese studies. In the past seven decades since its founding in 1931, Xidian University had greatly expanded its education programs and obtained its position as the base of education and research for nurturing the talents in the fields of electronics and information. Xidian University has established an education system of multi-levels for graduate and undergraduate studies. Xidian University is a home to 18,000 students with over 3,000 postgraduates and the undergraduates of over 13,000. Xidian University is organized into ten schools and one graduate school. They offer twenty-nine specialties, thirty-four master programs, fourteen doctoral programs and three post-doc. programs. Xidian University has the right to grant academic degrees to the students for the above mentioned programs and specialties. The school has established national level interdisciplinary education for electric and electronic engineering, more than 20 research institutes and 30 laboratories among them three are national key labs. The newly-built YIFU Library has an inventory of over one million books. Xidian University, with a proud tradition of excellence in teaching and research, has a faculty consisting of academicians and a team of eminent professors and researchers and high-qualified education, which makes the university get a high reputation on the society. Chinese Studies a. Classes Primary classes: listening, Spoken Chinese, writing, Chinese Culture. Intermediate classes: Extensive Reading, listening, spoken Chinese, writing, Chinese Culture Advanced classes: Extensive Reading, Advanced Writing, Translation, Chinese Culture. Pre-school classes: special Chinese training classes for those who will study science /arts . (Chinese Culture Class includes Chinese history, Chinese painting, Cutting paper, Taijiquan, Qigong, etc.) b. Features for Chinese Studies The methodology of teaching is, on the basis of straight forward images, to cultivate students the abilities of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in accordance with individuals. c. Investigation Tour Students are organized to visit the historical remains in Xi'an, especially the Terra-Cotta Army of Emperor Chin Shihuang, Huaqing Hot Spring and the BanPo Village Museum of the Matriarchal Society. Admission Requirements and Applying Procedure A. Admission Requirements a. Students who apply for Chinese language studies are only required to submit their applications and resumes. b. Those who apply for undergraduate study are required to submit transcripts of their high school diplomas, the last three years of school records and their applications. c. Those who apply for graduate or further study are required to submit their applications, transcripts of college diplomas, academic degree certificates school records, and references from at least two professors. B. Applying Procedure Those who apply for admission to Xidian University may ask for the Application Form from the Center of International Cultural Exchange of Xidian University or download from internet. The Application Form and the above mentioned transcripts shall be sent to the Center of International Cultural Exchange of Xidian University. Tuition A.
