Neijiang lies in the southeast of Sichuan Province which borders on Chongqing in the east, Luzhou in the south, Zigong and Yibin in the west, Ziyang and Suining in the north, with a land area of 5,386 km? and a total population of 4.2 million. It is a hub of communication in southwest China for the areas within theChengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone.

With the beautiful winding Tuojiang River flowing through, Neijiang has a rich history of 2000 years and is the birthplace of Changhong, teacher of Confucius, Wang Bao, a great poet of the West Han Dynasty, Dong Jun, a famous educator in Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daqian, a great master of Chinese painting, and Fanchangjiang, a distinguished newsman.
