Tianjin No.42 High school is a national grade model high school. It was first established in 1954 under the authority of Tianjin Government. It is a public school serving 5000 students registered in grade 7 through 12. It is recognized as an educational leader in the region and enjoys a strong reputation throughout the area. We have 15 bilingual classes at present. It has three teaching buildings which can hold 60 classes and 1 lab building where the students can do experiments for physics, chemistry and biology. We also have modern sound labs, computer rooms, lecture halls, libraries and so on. Using modern type of school management, Principal Zhang Dingyan, who has consummate professional knowledge and a rigorous scientific approach for teaching, regards the learning environment as the core vale of the school. All the leading members of the school are qualified professional teachers. They are the backbone of the scientific and technological contingents. At present, there are 119 expert and senior professional teachers , covering 55%, 8 of them are demonstration teachers, four national professional leading teachers and 5 regional teachers. In the past few years, the teaching standard in our school has been rising steadily. In the year 2003, 97% of our students were admitted to universities, 76% to key universities.
