YUFE is a multi-discipline university. It is not only strong in economics, management and law but also offers philosophy, liberal arts, nature science and engineering education. The university is approved to confer bachelor degree and master degree.YUFE was founded in1951 and in 1995, it was appointed one of the provincial key institutes by the Yunnan provincial government. In 1998, YUFE merged with Yunnan Cadre school of Finance Management.

With the permit ion of Academic Committee directly under State Council, YUFE carried out not only two bachelors` degree programs in international accounting and international business with KeukaUniversity in U.S.A and CSU in Austria but also a Masters` degree in real estate and project management with GreenwichUniversity in UK.

YUFE has setup 28 undergraduate specialties, including 8 provincial key disciplines and 4 provincial key subjects. More over, YUFE has 4 first-class disciplines entitled to grant masters` degree, namely, theoretical economics, applicant economics, management science & engineering and business administration. There are other 30 disciplines entitled to grant masters degree in YUFE, they are finance, enterprise management, Cameralistics, World Economy, accounting, international trade, regional economy, statistics, industrial economy, Ethnics, political economics, Thoughts of Economics, History of Economy, Western Economics, Human Resource & Environmental Economics, National Economics, Labor Economics, National Economics, Quantitative Economics, Theory of Laws, civil and commercial law, management science & engineering, tourism management, Technical Economy & management, Agriculture Economy management, Administration, Social Security, Land Recourse and computer science.

YUFE has an over 12,000 full time undergraduate and postgraduate students. The total number of students reaches 25,000 including part-time students, international students and adult students. The teaching force in YUFE consists of over 1,300 faculties including over 800 fulltime lecturers. They are more than 400 professors and associate professors and 100 Doctors. YUFE occupies an area of 1021mu (68 hectares) with 590,000 square meters of floor area. The University Library has a collection of 1.6million books. With complete disciplines, strong teaching force, optimized academic structure and diversified levels of running school, YUFE has established a complete education system, which regard the postgraduate education as leading edge, postgraduate as main body and adult education as auxiliary parts.
