Yunnan is one of the most alluring destinations in China. It's the most geographically varied of all China's provinces, with terrain ranging from tropical rainforest to icy Tibetan highlands. The province itself borders Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Tibet. It is also the home of a third of China's ethnic minorities, and half of China's plant and animal species. The province is now so popular with travellers that nearly three quarters of a million foreign tourists visit annually. Some of the attractions are the World Heritage Protected Sights - Lijiang and Shangri-La - and the other minority areas of Dali, Ruili and Xishuangbanna. In addition, travellers can visit the Confucius Temple in Jianshui, the Tiger Leaping Gorge near Lijiang and the dormant volcanoes at Tengchong.

Yunnan boasts many nicknames because the province contains the nation's greatest diversity of flora and fauna. It has been given nicknames "Mother of Rivers", "Kingdom of Plants", "Garden of Heavenly Marvelous Flowers", and "Home town of Perfume".

Yunnan is also well-known for its mild climate year-round - its name means South of the Clouds. The provincial capital, Kunming, is similarly referred to as the "Spring City", and has been claimed by the UN to be one of the cities in the world that are most suitable for human beings to live in. It enjoys fine sunny weather throughout most of the year.

Kunming, as the capital of the province, has played a more and more important role in the Southeast Asian economic development. Its convenient airway network with Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Hongkong is one of the guarantees for its booming tourism economy. Kunming's own surrounding districts boast several interesting areas for long walks.

Kunming has its own cuisine, especially in the snack line, and also a large selection of mushroom dishes. Local specialities include: across-the-bridge rice noodles, steampot chicken and spicy hot-pot.

With the development of the economy, Kunming now has quite a few large foreign supermarkets like Wal-mart, Carrefour, and B&Q, and several western fast food restaurants, like McDonald's, KFC, and Pizza Hut, have recently arrived in Kunming. The city, however, still retains a lot of its charm and character with its old areas and the many cafes in the centre of the city, around the Green lake Park (Cuihu Park) and the Universities.

Robert's School of Languages is a Sino-British joint-venture private language school dedicated to the provision of the highest academic standards in language teaching. The school was established in 2001 under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Education Commission, and is located in the centre of Kunming near Yunnan University and Yunnan Normal University, and is just to the north of the Green Lake Park ( Cuihu Park).

Robert's School now has more than 700 students. A majority of these students are primary or secondary school students. We also provide adults' classes, including general English, business English, teacher training and IELTS preparation. The maximum number of students per class is sixteen.

We mainly use imported textbooks which we adapt for our Chinese students. The students themselves really enjoy studying these books with us and their parents are delighted with the results their children achieve at school.

At present, the school employs three full-time foreign teachers and six Chinese teachers. We are now looking to recruit more foreign teachers because of a rapid growth in the number of students.

The new teachers will be expected to teach similar courses to the current foreign teachers, though the actual courses taught will depend on the teacher's experience. There are teacher's books for all the courses and a large selection of teacher's resource books is available for the teachers to use. In order to improve the teaching at the school, we also hold weekly teachers’ meetings, and discussions about the courses and teaching methodology.

What we offer

Monthly salary of 3500-4500RMB (depending on the teacher’s experience and qualifications)
Housing allowance of 500RMB per month towards the cost of renting a flat, which we can arrange for the teacher or assist the teacher in finding when they arrive. ( off campus)
A bonus of 6000RMB upon completion of a one year contract
Arrange and pay for the visa and the medical examination for the visa.
Arrange free Chinese classes up to 4 hours a week
