Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU), founded in Hangzhou in 1956, now situated in the friendly and welcoming historical city of Jinhua, is one of the leading universities in Zhejiang province. The University has a beautiful campus of approximately 230hectares. Currently, it enrolls over20.000 full time students, including 900 postgraduates, into its 16 colleges, which offer 47 specialties. There are more than 25,000 students studying for various adult programs. The University,which has been authorized by the Ministry of Education as the Key State Construct Training Base for Teachers, has set up 37 major research institutes. There are 15 key academic disciplines and key promoted academic disciplines, 8 key provincial specialities in Zhejiang. Thirty specialties are entitled to enroll postgraduates. The university library is highly computerized and has a collection of over 2,100,000 volumes.
ZNU makes great efforts to promote international exchanges and cooperation and has set up cooperative relations with a score of universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Ukraine, France, Korea, Japan, Australia, Switzerland, etc .The U niversity has been authorized to accept both short-tem and long-term international students. An increasing number of international students are applying for our language and culture programs, advanced study programs, degree programs and postgraduate research programs.
ZNU now has two campuses, one of which is located in Hangzhou (the capital city of Zhejiang Province). The applicants may select any campus where they wish to study or in both campuses for different periods.
Environment
Jinhua City, which enjoys a history of 2,000 years with highly developed commerce, scenic and amazing mountains and rivers, is located in central Zhejiang, one of the eastern coastal provinces of the People’s Republic of China. Among the area, crowd many cultural resorts, historic attractions and famous relics. It is not only an outstanding place for tourists but the one in-between the developed coastal regions (including the Shanghai economic zone) and the inland areas.
Hangzhou, one of the Seven Ancient Capitals of China, with numerous grottoes and statues, steles and ancient architectures, h as long been enjoying the fame of a land flowing with fish and rice and is also famous for its silk and tea. The well-known “Dragon-well Tea” (Longjing Tea) grows here, too. As here goes the saying: There is a Paradise in the heaven; down the earth, they are Suzhou and Hangzhou.
The two cities have a distinct demarcation of the four seasons, with the annual average temperature about 17℃, and the rainfall about 1450mm. There is a convenient traffic with an interlaced network of highways and railways in Jinhua, which extends in all directions. Hangzhou International Airport runs a direct airline to South Korea. And altogether, it is only 198km between two ZNU campuses.
International Programs
I. Chinese Language and Culture Programs 
1. Long Term Programs: Placement students or students who wish to study Chinese language and culture for over half a year may fit into our beginners program, elementary program, intermediate program or advanced program according to their levels of Chinese.
2. Short Term Programs: The University runs short-term theme study programs all the year
round in Chinese Language and Culture, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Business in China, Traditional Chinese Sports Games (Martial Arts, Shadow Boxing , etc), Traditional Chinese Musical Instruments, Chinese Education, etc. The duration for such short term study programs many vary from 2 weeks to 8 weeks, followed by one or two weeks of field trip to major attractions in the Province or in China. Courses and duration of study are adjustable upon specific requirements.

Qualifications and Duration of Studies
1.Degree students 
--Undergraduates:
Applicants should have the academic record or diploma equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate or higher. The duration for study is 3 years or 4 years.
--Graduate Candidates:
Applicants for master’s degree must hold bachelor’s degree or higher. The University will decide the enrollment through evaluation. Should they pass all the graduate courses for the first year (not including the time spent in Chinese language training before entry to the program), they can continue their study. Those who fail to pass the examination will only be regarded as students of general advanced studies. The duration for study is 2.5-3 years.
2.Non-degree students
--General advanced candidates
General advanced candidates must have finished two years of undergraduate study. The duration of study is usually one year and shall not exceed 3 years.
--Senior advanced candidates
Senior advanced applicants must hold master’s degree or higher in relevant specialty, they should take further studies or research on the relevant specialty. The duration for study shall not exceed one year.
--Chinese language candidates:
senior high school graduates or higher; in good health
--Short-term students
senior high school graduates or higher; in good health

II.Admission and Visa Application
1. After the receipt and evaluation of the above materials, CIEE will handle the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China (also called JW202 Form) and post them to the applicant.
2. With the JW202 Form, the Admission Notice, passport, and the relevant documents required, the applicant can apply for an X visa to study in China (for one year or over one year) at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. And the applicant can also apply for an F visa for a study period of half a year or L visa for travel (After arrival at the university, we will help to change your visa status accordingly).
III.Registration
Grading, Diploma and Certificate
The grading system for international students is the same as the Chinese students. Degree candidates who have successfully completed their studies and passed all the examinations will be awarded an undergraduate or graduate diploma. In accordance with the rules and regulations stipulated by the Degree Committee of the People’s Republic of China, candidates who have satisfied all the requirements prescribed by the senate of the university will be conferred the relative degrees.
Non-degree candidates will receive a certificate of graduation if they have successfully completed their studies and passed the required examinations. Short term students and students who fail or withdraw will receive a certificate of study.
Activities and Travel Arrangements
Weekend short trips, watching performances and sports games, get-togethers and parties, etc. will be arranged. Should the students wish to travel within China on holiday or in vacations, the University can make necessary arrangements, but expense for such trips will be borne by students themselves.
