Taizhou University, the new coastal city in east china, is located in Taizhou area, Zhejiang province. Taizhou , the leading area for opening up , one of the sixteen cities in the Yangtse River Delta, the big city in Zhejing province and the first-rate economic sub-zone, is prosperous in trade economy.

Taizhou University is a normal school on the undergraduate level approved by the Ministry of Education. The present school is located in the city of Linhai, the educational and cultural center of Taizhou area as well as the nationally famous city for its history and culture. Taizhou University, with a long history of running the school, started in 1907. Covering an area of 450000 square meters, this University at present has a floor space of more than 200,000 square meters. A new campus of this University located in Jiaojiang District covering an area of more than 800,000 square meters is now under construction, which will provide Taizhou University with a promising prospect. During decades of years of practicing, this University is in possession of solid basis and ample experience for running the school. At present, there are more than 7,000 students, including undergraduates and three-year-schooling students. There are more than 700 members on the teaching staff, including over 200 members of doctor tutors, doctors, professors and associate Professors. There are more than 800,000 books of various kinds and over 30 modern laboratories. There are 12 departments of colleges accessorial to or directly under this University, including the schools of Humanities and social sciences, Economy & Trade Management, Foreign Languages, Information & Electronics Engineering, Bioscience & Medical Chemistry, Physical Education, Medical, Adult Education, Mathematics, Machine & electronics and Architecture. This university has 8 branches of subject, including literature, natural science, engineering, management, medical and education, etc, covering 16 undergraduate and 25 three-year-schooling specialties. Among the former 16 ones, there are specialties, such as literature, natural science, foreign trade English, computer science & technology, electro-information, chemistry engineering & technics, medical science and arts Among the latter 25 ones, there are specialties, such as secretary, travel management, environmental protection, modern education technology, narcotic medical, machine-electronics project and architecture, etc. Taizhou University pays much attention to teachers’ scientific research, among which the research level affects both inside and outside in the aspects of the comparative literature & the world literature, analytical chemistry and Buddhism of Tiantai clan. Taizhou University sticks to on-limits running of the school, this University is continuously extending its exchange and cooperation with the outside world. It has been active in carrying on international exchange and cooperation and has maintained friendly relationships with foreign universities, such as Lincoln University of New Zealand, Chodang University of the Republic of Korea, and Magdeburg-Stendal Applied Science & Technology University of Germany. Every year excellent teachers will be sent abroad to these places, such as England, Germany and Australia, etc, to further study, which will broaden their visual fields. In 2002 Taizhou University was approved to enroll students abroad.
