Shaoxing Yuexiu Foreign Language College is situated at the Great Yu’s Temple in shaoxing Zhejiang Province. Shaoxing Yuexiu Foreign Language College was rebuilt at the new site in 1999. The new campus occupies an area of 300 mu, The college involves 3 department: English department ,Oriental Languages department, Management department, providing majors like English Education, Practical English, Practical Japanese,Practical Korean, Computer Business, Tourism and Foreign Secretary. We have over 500 faculty members including 60 senior and junior teachers,28 foreign teachers and 8000 students. During the courses of its establishment and development, the college has attracted wide social concernfor its distinctive characteristics and excellent teaching qualities. It has become a famous school among the national foreign language ones.

Students.We have more than 8000 students with most of them are girls. There are 25--30 students in each class. Students get up early at 6 o'clock in the morning. They have a moring -self-reading period after morning exercise and breakfast. They are diligent and eager to practise. Students like their foreign teachers and learn a lot from them. Meanwhile foreign teachers like our students, and they keep a good relationship with Chinese teachers as well.

Introduction of Shaoxing

Shaoxing, in northeast ZhejiangProvince, is an ancient city as well as a typical water-borne city in south China with 5000 stone bridges whose history dates back 2400 years. It has a total area of 7901 square kilometres with a population of 4.20 million, among which 101 square kilometres belongs to the urban area of Shaoxing with a population of 280,000. Shaoxing is warm and humid and has an average annual temperature of 16.4℃.It is 67 kilometres away from Hangzhou,249 kilometres from Shanghai,108 kilometres from Ningbo.

Shaoxing enjoys a very good transportation and communication condition. It is half an hour’s drive to the Hangzhou airport,2.5 hours to Shanghai.

Shaoxing has abundant natural resources. Everywhere are sights for the eyes, and potentials for a tourist industry. In Shaoxing,there are three state-level cultural treasures and historic sites,33 at the provincial level. In addition, there are six famous tourist attractions,suchas: Kuaijishan Mountain and Jianhu Lake, East Lake, Temple of the Great Yu,Orchid Oavilion,Buddhist Temple on Kuaijishan Mountain ,Luxun’s Former Residence and the Memorial Museum, Shen Garden and Shaoxing Historic Museum. On the outskirts of the city green hills crisscrossing rivers, ancient stone bridges and shuttling boats combine to present a charming picture which is typical of towns and the cities in south China.
