Introduction

 

Zhejiang Normal University is one of the leading universities in Zhejiang Province. Its main task is to prepare qualified teachers and provide training programs for in-service teachers. The University embraces 16 colleges and offers 47 undergraduate degree and diploma programs and 30 master’s degree programs. The University enrolls about 19,530 undergraduates and over 1,000 postgraduates. Its College of Adult Education has a total enrollment of over 20,000 students specializing in various adult education programs. Zhejiang Training Center for College and University Teachers is an auxiliary unit to the University and is known as the major base for training college teachers in the province. The University is supported by the Ministry of Education as a major national training base for vocational teachers. Faculty and staff of the University amounts to 2,200, including two members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, two members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and 1,147 full-time teachers, over 540 of which are professors and associate professors. Thirty one faculty members are ranked in the province as the young or mid-aged leading scholars for their relevant disciplines, and 21 teachers are chosen as members of the provincial “151 Talent Project”. In order to achieve a steady improvement of teaching and scientific research, foreign and Chinese professors, experts and scholars are invited here to open courses or give lectures every year. In the meantime, teachers and researchers are sent to pursue advanced studies, give lectures or conduct research both at home and abroad.

The University has 37 key collegiate research institutes and centers, 15 key collegiate disciplines, and 30 programs for postgraduate studies. The University is the sole university in the province to run the Master of Education program. Moreover, there are 15 key provincial academic disciplines and key promoted academic disciplines in the University. In addition, major facilities of the University include well-equipped teaching buildings, a laboratory center, a computer network, a modern instructional technology center, gymnasiums, etc. The University library has a collection of over 1,650,000 volumes and subscribes to 7,000 journals, both in various foreign languages and in Chinese. Besides, it has spacious, beautiful and comfortable dormitories and dining rooms.

Inrecent years, the University makes strenuous efforts for the promotion of international exchange and cooperation in the field of education and culture. Inter-collegiate exchange and cooperation has been established with over 30 colleges, universities and research institutions in over a dozen countries such as America, British, Australia, France, Japan, etc. The University has been authorized to accept both long-term and short-term international students. Supported by the Ministry of Education, the University set up a Chinese Language Center in Cameroon. Since 1995, the University has been sending groups of students to study abroad every year. The University has initiated three international joint education programs --French for International Business and European Affairs, E-Business and Information Technology, Master of Education in Education Administration in 1999, 2001 and 2002 respectively.

Zhejiang Normal University, with great vitality, is now striding forward to the target of a type of university at high level in teaching and scientific researches.

Location
The University is situated in the northern suburbs of Jinhua City in central Zhejiang Province. Jinhua, with a population of 430,000, is one of the five major cities in Zhejiang. It is an important communication hub, with its highways and railways linking to all parts of the province as well as to other parts of the country. The City has a history of 2,000 years and enjoys highly developed commerce, scenic and amazing mountains and rivers. Among the area, crowd many cultural resorts, historic attractions and famous relics. It is not only an outstanding place for tourists but the one in between the developed coastal regions (including the Shanghai economic zone) and the inland areas. With its main campus in Jinhua, the University has a branch campus in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province. Hangzhou is famous for the West Lake and is one of the seven ancient capitals of China. It is one of the most attractive tourism cities in China.

Campus
The University covers an area of over 3,000.00 mu, with a total floor space of 580,460 square meters. The campus, cloaked with green everywhere, is an ideal place for living, study and work. It is within 2 kilometers to the north of the downtown area and 10 kilometers to the south of a national scenic attraction - the Double Dragon Cave. In 1997, the University was named as the “Civilized Campus”. The University has a branch campus in Hangzhou, the capital city of the province.


Qualifications
 •1. Native English Speakers, born and growing up in an English speaking country such as America, Britain, Australia, Canada   and New Zealand;
 2. Native Japanese Speakers, born and growing up in Japan;
 3. Fine Arts teachers from Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany or other countries;
 4. Music teachers from Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany or other countries;
 • A Bachelor’s degree at least. MA or PhD obtainers are highly desirable;
 • Healthy, easy-going and cooperative;
Job Duties:
 •1. Teach college students oral English, writing, cross culture communication or other elective courses;
 2. Teach oral Japanese, Japanese Culture or other courses;
 3. Teach Fine Arts courses;
 4. Teach Music courses;
 5. One opening available for native English speaks to teach primary school students English;
 6.Teach art and design,oil painting,urban planning.
•Teaching hours per week: minimum 12 teaching periods, maximum 16 teaching periods ( equivalent to 8 to 10.7 hours);
•Term: A contract from September 1st, 2006 to June 30th, 2007.
Benefits:
 •Salary: A monthly salary ranging from 4,000 to 5,500 RMB, depending upon applicants’ education and experience   background;
 •An economic class round-way air-ticket is borne by us for those holding a MA/MS or Ph.D degree;
 •An additional 2,200 RMB for vacation allowance will be given when the contract expires;
 •Free furnished apartment provided with a bed-room, a living-room, a kitchen, a bath-room, and a small toilet-room, including   a refrigerator, a washing machine, a water heater, a vacuum cleaner, a microwave oven, a gas cooker, a telephone, a TV Set   and two air conditioners. There is a broad band Internet access in each apartment;
